Keepon exhibit at NICT

Keepon has been enshrined in the Tokyo exhibition room of Japan’s National Institute of Information and Communications Technology (NICT), where Hideki Kozima designed Keepon.

The automated exhibit has an interactive mode (finding and tracking faces) and a dance mode.  The exhibition room, which includes other fun NICT technologies, is open to the public. Get directions and hours for the location here (or in Japanese).

Keepon was a guest performer at last night’s 12th Annual Webby Film & Video Awards in New York City. Keepon assisted host Judah Friedlander in honoring several of the evening’s award recipients.

Keepon shared first prize with EPFL’s HOAP-3 in the first ICRA Human-Robot Interaction Challenge. The two robots whiled away the hours of the competition by dancing and crashing conference talks. Watch out for a video soon.

Carnegie Science Awards

Keepon was on display tonight at this year’s Carnegie Science Awards, where the Robotics Institute won the Chairman’s Award.  Attendees played with Keepon while shopping a silent auction in the Carnegie Museum of Art’s beautiful Hall of Architecture.

Nordic Exceptional Trendshop

Keepon was exhibited at Innovation Lab’s Nordic Exceptional Trendshop (NEXT No. 5) in Aarhus, Denmark from April 4-6.
